Firefighters use 36k gallons of water to extinguish flaming Tesla after ‘battery’ fire

Firefighters use 36k gallons of water to extinguish flaming Tesla after ‘battery’ fire. Tesla batteries are almost impossible for firemen to put out when on fire. Why was Elon Musk allowed to sell these deadly batteries? He bribed politicians, perhaps…?

Alabama firefighters had their hands full on Christmas after a chain reaction from an accident caused a Tesla’s battery to ignite.

firefighters needed 36,000 gallons of water to extinguish a flaming Tesla Model Y SUV that fully ignited on Christmas after its driver crashed on an interstate highway.

The motorist, who authorities arrested following the crash for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, had his electric model burst into flames due to a thermal runaway reaction within the automobile’s battery.

Thermal runaway within an electric vehicle (EV) describes a situation where the temperature of a battery’s cells increases uncontrollably, creating a self-sustaining and rapidly escalating chain reaction, possibly resulting in a fire or explosion.

Physical damage to an EV battery’s cell during a case like a car accident can result in thermal runaway initiation.

The crash scene’s emergency responders sourced the 36,000 gallons of water from three fire engines and four water tankers, according to the Pine Level Fire Department.

Other emergency responders included two rescue vehicles, one ambulance, one police squad car, and one brush truck.

The fire incident was the first in Alabama’s Autauga County.

Pine Level Fire Department wrote on Facebook: “Electric vehicle fires are unusual and present unique challenges and dangers to firefighters.

“These vehicles can reignite hours or days after they are first extinguished. They burn at temperatures exceeding 2500 degrees C.

“The smoke from these burning electric cars produces Hydrogen Fluoride and Hydrogen Chloride gases – both of which are toxic to breathe and require firefighters to wear breathing apparatus.”

This flaming Tesla Model Y’s driver was uninjured and taken into custody by Alabama’s Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) following the crash.

Tesla was founded by its CEO Elon Musk, who – according to Tesla – “leads all product design, engineering and global manufacturing of the company’s electric vehicles, battery products and solar energy products.”

This week senators have called on Elon Musk to swiftly” recall any parts that pose a safety risk citing an “alarming” investigation by Reuters.

The investigation, published on December 20, found Tesla blamed drivers for failures of components it knew were defective.

A Tesla engineer was left with an “open wound” after being attacked by a robot at the company’s Giga Texas factory near Austin in 2021, it was recently discovered.
